Bolivar Medical Center Welcomes Back Hospital Auxiliary with Donation
September 14, 2023
Before March 2020, the Hospital Auxiliary at Bolivar Medical Center was as busy as ever. They could be seen on Long Term Care helping with resident activities, on patient floors offering coffee and magazines, and in the Auxiliary Gift Shop helping put together gift baskets and balloons for patients, while also serving in many other areas of the facility. Then, COVID-19 hit. While the hospital figured out what the future volunteer roles would look like, the Auxiliary members have waited patiently for word. That taste of reality came this week as Bolivar Medical Center’s Administrative team officially invited all Auxiliary members back to active duty.
Hospital CEO, Jimmy Young, said thanking the Auxiliary for all that they do for the hospital and recognizing the difficult time they’ve had was the first step in welcoming them back. At a special gathering on Tuesday, September 12th, he presented the group with a check for $5,000, to be used to fund the Auxiliary Gift Shop.
“The Auxiliary means so much to not only our hospital but our community as well. Beyond raising money for hospital projects and helping staff with needed tasks, they fund local nursing scholarships and donate to our Long Term Care facility. They have given so much to our hospital and community, we wanted to give back to them,” said Young.
